KENYAN ATHLETES SHINE AT THE OTTAWA MARATHON

This years Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend took place from May 23nd – 24th 2015 in Ottawa, Canada. It attracted about 48,000 competitors from all over the world.The events ranged from 2km family race to Marathon.

There were 25 elite Kenya athletes who participated in the events ranging from 10k to 42k (Marathon) races. They performed extremely well with the men taking the first four positions while the women took the first and second positions in their respective races. Mr. Nicholas Bor and Ms Gladys Cherono won gold medals while Philip Kangogo and Ms Rebecca Chesire won silver medals.

The High Commissioner, H.E John Lanyasunya led his staff and Kenyans living in Canada in cheering the Kenyan participants during the competition. The Mission took advantage of the event to promote Kenyan Tea by serving spectators and participants at the VIP tent.

After the event H.E the High Commissioner hosted the athletes for a luncheon at the Ottawa Marriot Hotel. Hon. Wesley Korir MP, who was one of the participants , moved a vote of thanks on behalf of his colleagues.
