KENYA’S HIGH COMMISSIONER TO CANADA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Amb. John Lepi Lanyasunya on 31st March, 2015 presented his credentials, officially taking office as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Canada. The presentation was made in line with Canadian law to the Governor-General of Canada H.E. the Rt Hon. David Johnston, at a ceremony held at the Governor-General’s official residence in Ottawa.

In his remarks during the ceremony, High Commissioner Lanyasunya underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation in light of Kenya’s new Foreign Policy launched recently by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He identified Canada as a crucial partner for Kenya in diverse spheres and acknowledged support extended to Kenya in the areas of governance, economic and social development.

He emphasized the Kenya government’s resolve to accelerated economic growth, good governance and improved security, as evidenced by the historic decision to co-host the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi next July.

High Commissioner Lanyasunya’s diplomatic career spans decades over which he served as Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany and High Commissioner to Australia. He most recently held the position of Head of the Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
