EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR USE OF OLD GENERATION KENYAN PASSPORT

Further to our previous notices on E-Passports, we wish to inform Kenyans living in Canada that the use of old generation machine readable passports has been extended from March 1st, 2020 to 1st March, 2021 when it will be no longer valid for travel as indicated in the Press Statement below:-

Application for new Kenyan E-Passport can now be made at the Kenya Embassy, Washington, DC.  Please (Click here to open link) for details.

Note that, before you visit any of the processing stations, applicants must apply online and pay the requisite fee through the eCitizen Portal. It is important to note that you must submit the application documents in person at the Kenya Embassy in D.C. to complete the process.

E-passport applications can also be made at any of these passport offices: Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Embu and Kisii.

RENEWAL OF OLD GENERATION PASSPORTS

For clients who wish to renew their old generation passports in the interim before they are phased out, the same can be facilitated through Kenya High Commission, Ottawa. Kindly note that, you will be issued with the old generation passport. Below are the requirements:

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS (OLD)

Please attach the following documents: –

  • Two copies of Form 19  (Click here)
  • Attach your original passport
  • Two copies of Kenyan passport (bio data page only)
  • Three passport size photos
  •  Two copies of your birth certificate (Foreign Birth Certificates must be certified)
  • Two copies of Kenyan ID Card (2nd generation)
  • If you hold any foreign passport, or are a citizen of another country, please Click here  to check if you need to declare or regain Kenyan citizenship and act accordingly.
  • Attach documentary proof of Regain/Declaration of Kenya citizenship (dual citizen only)
  • Documentary evidence of residence in Canada e.g. (Permanent Residence, Work Permit, Student Authorization etc.)
  • Complete and sign parental consent form for children under 18 years of age. Click here to download.
  •    Pre-paid Self-Addressed return Courier envelope e.g.  Xpresspost envelope from Canada Post. Courier envelopes from Fedex/UPS and Purolator must have a computer-generated label.

Passport fee in Canadian dollars for adults and children

Please attach Money Order/Bankers Draft or Certified cheque payable to Kenya High Commission as per the fee schedule shown below.   No refunds will be made for applications mailed to this office with amounts over and above the indicated amount. Walk-in’s to the Mission can use debit /visa card located at the front desk

  • 32-page passport – $75.00
  • Lost passport – $240.00
  • Mutilated passport – 200.00

 Kindly ensure that photos attached meet the following criteria:

  • Be clear photos – they should not be blurred nor have a dark hue. All facial features should be clearly outlined
  • Have a full face and both ears showing
  • Be taken against a white background
  • Be without shadows in the background
  • No smiling or laughing
  • Be taken without spectacles
  • Size of photos should be 2.5 x 2 inches (two and a half by two inches)
  • Weaves or hair should not cover the forehead or the rest of the face
  • Decent photos
  • Attach at least 3 photos

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILDREN BORN ABROAD TO KENYAN PARENTS

  • Form 19 + one copy  (Click here)
  • Original passport
  • Two copies of parent(s) Kenyan passport (biodata page only)
  • Two colour copies of parent(s) second generation Kenyan ID
  • Two certified copies of child’s Birth Certificate (if born outside Kenya)
  • Three passport sized-photographs (size 2.5″x 2″).
  • Complete and sign parental consent form for children under 18 years of age. Click here to download.
  • Documentary evidence of residence in Canada e.g.  (Permanent Residence, Work Permit, Student Authorization etc.)
  • Additional documentary proof of Kenya citizenship may be required.
  • Pre-paid Self-Addressed Return Courier Envelope e.g.  Xpresspost from Canada Post. Other courier services such as Fedex/UPS must have a computer-generated label.

REQUIREMENTS FOR LOST/MUTILATED PASSPORT

In Case of lost or mutilated passport please attach the following documents. 

  • Two particulars of a lost passport form (1)  (Click here) to download
  • Two copies of Police Report in case of a lost passport
  • Two copies of Sworn Affidavit done before a Commissioner for Oaths declaring the passport is lost or mutilated
  • An application letter comprehensively explaining when, where and the circumstances under which the passport got lost or mutilated

  • Two copies of Kenyan passport (bio data page only)
  • Three passport size photos
  •  Two copies of your birth certificate (Foreign Birth Certificates must be certified)
