His Excellency John Lepi Lanyasunya with Governor General of Canada

His Excellency John Lepi Lanyasunya, High Commissioner for the Republic of Kenya presenting credentials to the Governor General of Canada David Johnston.

His Excellency Amb.  John Lanyasunya began his career in 1980 at Utalii College, Nairobi where he rose to the position of Deputy Principal in 1994.

He worked in that position until his appointment in 1997 as Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany, with concurrent non-resident accreditation to Austria, Romania and Bulgaria .

He returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters for two years before becoming co-ordinator of the  Inter-governmental Authority on Development (IGAD)  Somalia Peace Process.  In 2004, he was appointed High Commissioner to Australia, where he spent five years and had concurrent accreditation to New Zealand. During his time there, he became Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps.

From 2009 to 2014, he was the  Director of the Asia and Australasia Directorate at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters before being appointed  as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Canada.

Amb  Lanyasunya is married and has three children.
